We randomly discovered a new site called BidRivals which allows users to place bids on items and win auctions for products at unbelievable prices significantly lower than retail. At first, it looked gimmicky and we wondered how they could offer these products for prices so low. We soon found out that the reason they can offer products this low is because there are multiple users bidding on the item.
The way penny auction sites like BidRivals work is you buy a number of bids and then place your bids on an auction which has a timer. Every time you bid, the price of the auction increases by $0.01 and the timer goes up by 15 seconds. The moment the auction goes to zero, the last person to bid wins the item.
